Dear MDL ISIS/Host, MDL Central Library, and MDL Direct Administrator:
Since Elsevier MDL is approaching the end of legacy support for MDL ISIS/Host 4.0, MDL Central Library 2.2, and MDL Direct 2.0, we strongly recommend that you complete your upgrade to the Server 5.0 products if you have not already done so.
As announced in September 2003:
- Legacy support for MDL ISIS/Host 4.0, MDL Central Library 2.2, and MDL Direct 2.0 ends May 31, 2005.
- The final release of MDL Commercial Databases in RCG2 format occurred at the end of 2004. This included all ACD releases through 2004.4. Any Relational-Chemical databases shipped for 2005 will require MDL ISIS/Host 5.0.
Important new features of the 5.0 database server releases include:
- Support for MDL's enhanced stereochemical representation
- Support for fast-search indexes that exceed 2 GBYTES
- Updating of the fast-search index and inverted keys without taking the database offline
- Support for 64-bit Oracle 9i on Sun Solaris
- Documented pathway for master-snapshot replication scenario
- Audit Server for Microsoft Windows platforms
- Support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003
- Support for Oracle Standard edition

MDL ISIS/Host 5.1, MDL Central Library 5.1, and MDL Direct 5.1 are due out later this year and we will be sending you pre-release information for theses releases soon. There is no database upgrade associated with the 5.1 releases. Customers who are at the 5.0 level will be well-positioned to go forward to the 5.1 products.
