T06-2002: ISIS/Desktop Add-Ins May Be Disabled on Machines Running Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP

Program

ISIS/Base 2.4
ISIS/Draw 2.4
Operating System
Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft Windows XP
Description
On Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP machines, users may receive the following ISIS/Base error message on startup of ISIS/Base:
"Unable to initialize ISIS/Base Add-In Manager"
Users may receive the following ISIS/Draw error message on startup of ISIS/Draw:
"Unable to initialize ISIS/Draw Add-In Manager"
In either case, no Add-Ins will be available to the user.

Solution
The installation of ISIS/Desktop writes some of its configuration data to .ini and .cfg files in the Microsoft Windows system directory (c:\winnt for Microsoft Windows 2000 and c:\windows for Microsoft Windows XP). With NTFS drives on the these two operating systems non-power users are not allowed to write to the .ini and .cfg files, therefore these files are read-only for non-power users.
NOTE: Users who have write permission to these files will not receive these error messages.
On machines running Microsoft Windows 2000:

Grant users write permissions to the following files found in C:\WINNT:
isisaim.ini
isisaihp.ini
isissar.ini
isis.ini
tpl.cfg
On machines running Microsoft Windows XP:

Grant users write permissions to the following files found in C:\WINDOWS:
isisaim.ini
isisaihp.ini
isissar.ini
tpl.cfg
